shimmer shades way to glow

For the last couple of months I've been wearing Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess  but I think with my translucent skin tone it's a tad too orange for me, so it's going away until I come back from my hols with a golden tan.

After reading Lily's post on on the Collection 2000 Shimmer Shades Way to Glow Bronzer I thought I'd give that a go.  At only £4.19 I figured I couldn't go wrong, and the pinky brown shades looked like they would suit my ivory tones a bit better.
I nearly posted this review last week, and I'm glad I didn't because my initial impression wasn't good.  The first time I used it, it looked caked on, patchy and really dark brown, but I realised I was used to bronzers that need a heavier application.  After using this for a week, I really like it now, and would definitely recommend it.  I'm using it as a bronzer by swirling all the colours the together which gives a lovely pinky sunkissed look, and I've also been using the buff colour as a highlighter on my cheekbones and below my eyebrows.  AND, yes another and, I've been using the browns as eyeshadows.

All the shades are lovely, they have a slight shimmer to them and you need very little application to get a strong amount of colour.  My only reservation with this product is that you have to be careful not to over apply - you have been warned!

And here I am wearing it, this picture doesn't really show off how nice it so you'll just have to take my word for it! :)

Have any of you tried this product? And if any of you can recommend a good bronzer for milk bottle skin then let me know.

primark purchases outfit post

After much deliberating, I finally gave in and bought that grey dress.  Yes, the grey dress that is doing the blogger rounds, I’d been umming and ahhing over the Topshop one and then I read Victoria’s post, and thank goodness I did, a Primark copy for only £8 – yes please! (I really wanted to say ‘Get in my belly’ in a Scottish accent there, but it doesn’t quite work with shopping, also is it only me who regularly uses that quote?)

I haven’t shopped in Primark for ages, I’d decided that their prices were getting closer and closer to H&M and if I had to choose between H&M and Primark, I’d always go H&M.  However, within 5 minutes my basket was full, oops!  So here is my haul, and it came to a grand total of £17, maybe I’ll add Primark back to my top shops.

Yep, I felt it necessary to even show you my new pants…they went with the colour scheme, ok!

And here is how’d I’d wear it, what do you think? This dress is so easy to wear, and you can dress it up or down, I definitely think I might wear it with converse soon too.  My only criticism is, I feel like it’s not very flattering on the boob area, and I think your eyes get drawn there, hence why I added the scarf.  Does anyone else agree or am I being paranoid?

Dress/Necklace/Bangles: Primark
Scarf: H&M (old!!)
Boots: Office

Anyway, it’s the weekend, hope the weather stays sunny.  What are you all up to? I have a night out tomorrow so will be showing you my outfit!

green and blue pastel hue nail review

Check me out with my rhyming abilities above :) Ok, so I know it's a second nail varnish review but 1) it's all I've managed to get a decent picture of this week and 2) I have a lot of love for Rimmel.

These nail polishes glide on beautifully, and because of the rounded brush there is little excess, by this I mean  I actually get it on my nails rather than all round them.

You definitely need two coats, but I'm happy to use two coats to get a good finish.  Here I am sporting the aqua cool and the peppermint.  I wouldn't normally wear two colours of nail polish but I wanted to show off both but now I'm wearing it, I'm rocking it.  What do you think?

These pastel colours are beautiful for Summer, I love love love the peppermint.  I'm not sure I'd wear the blue on its own but set off against the peppermint I think this looks great too.

The peppermint is definitely going to be my new summer shade!!

the zara appreciation society

Zara why are you taunting me with so many beautiful things!!! I literally want EVERYTHING in Zara at the moment, is anybody feeling this?? If I was given £1000 to spend in Zara it wouldn't even be an issue right now, sigh!

I am going on holiday in 7 weeks though, which technically means you are allowed to buy new clothes/shoes/bags/bikinis/ and everything else right???

monki tee outfit post

top: monki
skirt: h&m

This is what I wore to go for a wander round the shops yesterday, fairly casual and again no jacket, I am loving this sunshine!

The top is my second purchase from Monki, as mentioned in my last outfit post, this one is a bit funkier and I think looks good with the tight skirt.  It's kinda big, and bit shapeless, this is a medium but I think with a skirt or skinny jeans it works, what do you guys think?! And this one was a whopping £8, I really recommend you all check out Monki.

I know the sunglasses make me look ,like a bit of a poser, but I wanted to show them off...they went with the outfit! ;-)

weekend wishlist #2

1. River Island Rings
2. Revlon Color Burst Lip Butters
3. Oasis 2 in 1 Dress
4. Zara Blazer
5. River Island Pumps
6. Warehouse Aviators

1.  These rings would totally go with yesterdays outfit, don't you think?? It's like they're telling me to buy them!
2. I've been wanting one of these since seeing the pics of Emma Stone, I really want the 'Peach Parfait' she's wearing in the advert.
3. Perfect holiday dress, I actually think this looks nicer on ASOS than it does the Oasis website for some reason, but I still want it all the same!
4. I know this is going to be one of those items I keep deliberating over, I saw it when I popped into Zara on my lunch break, it's a mint green colour in real life, but at £50 I'm just not sure as it's only made out of cotton.  Feel free to convince me to buy it :-)
5.  I actually went into River Island to buy these today, but they didn't have them in my size, and now it seems they're no longer available online, boo! Only £12 - and perfect for sunny days.
6.  Last summer I rocked wayfarers, but this year I think I want to go back to aviators...thoughts??

i think i've got it nailed

So, here it is, my first review, and it's for Topshop nail varnish.  If you hadn't already noticed, I'm a big Topshop make up fan...see my what i'm wearing post, and the nail varnishes are no exception.

This is the Moonshine 102 shade and I love it.  It's part of their metallics range, and I really want to buy the whole set after using this one.  It's a lovely silver colour with a slight hint of purple  and is perfect from bringing a bit of sparkle to your nails.

I used two coats, which is plenty, it gives a nice even coverage and goes on really easily.  I don't use a top coat (I know, I know, but I'm lazy) but I don't feel I really need one with this varnish.  I applied it on Friday evening and it's still looking good now, no chippage!!

Here's me posing a la Lily to try and give you an idea of what it looks like on. I can't recommend Topshop nail varnishes enough, and this moonshine shade is definitely a winner.

Can any of you recommend any of the other metallic shades to add to my collection?

sunny saturday outfit post

Hi everyone, so here we go, my first outfit post.  Today I was meeting an old friend for lunch and a wander round Portobello Market.  So here it is:

top: monki
jeans: gap
necklaces: topshop

The weather in London was beautiful today so I went out without a jacket (OMG!).  This top is a recent purchase (err, payday yesterday!) and it's from a shop I have just discovered, Monki on Carnaby Street? Have any of you guys checked it out, it's pretty new and I'd liken it to a funkier Uniqlo and with really good prices, this top was only £6 - BARGAIN.  I also bought another t-shirt...outfit post to come soon.
These jeans, sorry jeggings, are another newish purchase and I haven't stopped wearing them since I bought them (I have them in blue too!).  They look like jeans but are actually jeggings, so they stay nice and tight and don't go baggy on the knees plus, and this is a bonus for me, because they look like jeans I don't have to worry about butt/camel toe being on show, which is a big no-no in my books when it comes to leggings.

The necklaces are both from Topshop and I thought they dressed the top up a bit, along with the rings and nails I was rocking the silver look.

Unfortunately I didn't buy anything from Portobello Market, what's that about?! But I did try on an awesome ring that I'm now thinking would have made a good addition to my jewellery box, ah well - there's always next time.

Hope you like it, and hope you like my first outfit post, I would love to hear your comments.

what i'm wearing

I wanted to do my first make up review today, but I tried to take a couple of shots this morning on my normal camera and they were BAAAD! The boy lent his good camera to his dad (how rude!) and we're not getting it back till Easter (!!!!!) so I'm going to have to make do with what I've got, hopefully you'll get the gist!

This was kind of inspired by Kat's post on every day make up and I figured I could get away with minimal photos, so I thought I'd do a 'what I'm wearing' type post.

I'm going out for drinks/dinner with friends tonight so I'm wearing slightly more make up than I normally would...actually, re think, the only additional thing I'm wearing is primer to try and make my foundation stay in place all day. So here you have it:

What I'm wearing:

Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer that I received in the January Glossybox.
Topshop Blush in Neon Rose
No 7 Beautiful Brow Pencil in Blonde
Topshop Smokey Eye Palette - I think this must no longer be stocked, can't find it on the website.
Topshop Liquid Eye Liner in Black - (If you haven't noticed, I'm a big fan of the Topshop Make-Up range)
And finally, Rimmel Lasting Finish in Pink Blush!! This is what I wanted to review because I love it.  I bought it after reading about in a magazine (can't remember which one, sorry) and decided to buy it! I don't normally wear lipsticks because I have really dry lips but this is perfect, and I can re-apply without a mirror, always a winner in my books!

So there you go, that's me :-)

weekend wishlist

I figured making a wishlist can't be a bad thing?? If anyone would like to welcome me to the blogosphere by buying me any one of the above then that would be very kind of you.

1. Now that Summer is (almost!) here this top would look perfect with pale blue skinny jeans.
2. I feel I need these in my wardrobe, I don't know when I'd wear them but my wardrobe is calling out for them.
3. And if I've got a new Summer top, I need a new Summer bag to go with it - right?
4. I know everyone raves about this blushers, I'm just not sure I'm prepared to fork out £21 for one??

all about the girl

hello world

So, as this is my first attempt at blogging, I thought I'd start with an introduction:

This is me (the girl) and this is the boy (who, unbeknownst to him is soon to become the guy-behind-the camera).

I also thought I'd start by telling you a few things about me:

1. I drink at least one can of Diet Coke a day.
2. I'm originally from Carlisle - officially the happiest place to live in the UK.
3. I'm currently very much into swimming in an attempt to have a bikini body by May*
4. If I was a guest on Saturday Kitchen, mushrooms would be my food hell.
5. I have a girl crush/just want to be her on Zooey Deschanel - who doesn't??
6. Salad Cream rules over Mayonnaise every time.
7. Jim Sturgess is top of my 'free pass' list.
8. Right now I really need a hair cut.
9. I enjoy drinking wine...and cider (not together!).
10. I'm not sure I'm very good at this blogging malarkey.

*I say May, I didn't say which May!
