kendal calling in pictures

So this weekend saw me at the awesome Kendal Calling festival, and rather than drone on about how awesome it was, I just thought I'd share lots of my photees with you instead!

Unfortunately by day 2 our camera battery had died, and my iphone had had a very soggy night in our tent...and it still hasn't come back to life, (sob!) hence the lack of day two photos!

If any kind soul out there wants to take pity on me and send me a new phone, I'd be much appreciated...I feel a bit like I've lost my right arm.

denim and paisley

So here it is, my first outfit post from my new pad, excited much?  And I'm hoping this is going to be the start of lots of new and imaginative posts, now that I've got a lovely little garden to pose in I might be a little more creative!

But less of the house, and more of the outfit...you're probably all wondering why I'm wearing a jacket in this beautiful weather we've been having these last couple of weeks...(I say that, as I type this there's a thunderstorm going on outside!) but I couldn't wait to show off my new French Connection jacket.  I've been on the hunt for the perfect denim jacket for the longest time, neatly fitted but with a nice soft denim...I knew this was the one the moment I tried it on, it was like love at first try!

The paisley, halterneck dress is my go-to Summer dress, it was a GAP sale bargain, many many moons ago, and comes out ever year without fail, as the pattern is fading I know I'm going to have to give it up sooner or later but this dress and me have a past!  I'd been eyeing it up for months, but as a poor student I couldn't splash the cash.  Then it appeared in the sale, hurrah, only first year at university hadn't been kind to me, and the only size that was left I couldn't zip up.  I'd put myself on a diet over the Summer holidays, so would go back every week to see if I could fit into it...then one week, up the zip went with no effort, so I skipped myself to the till with glee!

I really should have taken the jacket off so you could see it properly...d'oh!

Dress - GAP
Sunglasses - Cheeky Thailand Bargain

So, now that we've got our house sorted, and I'm living back the boy (aka my photographer) I'm going to get myself right back into blogging, I've missed it and feel I've neglected it somewhat...so prepare yourself for a little bit more action over here, hope you haven't missed me too much!

the quest for the little black dress...

I have been on the hunt for a little black dress for as long as I can remember.  Don't get me wrong, yes I may have somewhere in the region of 6 or 7 in my wardrobe already, but none of them I can quite openly say is 'the one'.  You know what I mean by that, the one you can wear to every occasion, the one you always go back to, the only you always feel comfortable in, and the one you can accessorise to keep it interesting!

So at the grand old age of 28 (eek!), and after trying almost 28 different dresses on for a work's event a couple of weeks ago, I've decided that now is the time to actually put some effort into finding that perfect 'little black dress'.  Especially after my last post where I am sporting a 5 year old little black dress, that is covered in bobbles, and actually doesn't fit very well!  I mean, Wikipedia even has a whole page dedicated to it...it must be important!

Now I might be a little bit late to the party, but how did I not know that I could find all my little black dress needs in one place, I have my usual shopping haunts, but this week I went a little crazy and googled 'little black dress' and you'll never guess what I stumbled upon, yep, that's right www.littleblackdress.co.uk, seriously where have I been??

They even say it themselves 'the greatest collection of LBDs and party dresses in the world', and they don't just have an amazing collection of black dresses, they have an amazing collection of ALL dresses.  I've since spent many an hour picking my faves...so I thought I compile some of those just for you.  Obviously my first stop was 'black dresses', surprise surprise.

These four dresses are all simple, and none of them too on-trend, which means I can wear them season after season...exactly what I've been looking for.

Of course, I couldn't not have a little peruse of their 'non' black dresses too, and so thought I'd pop together my faves of those too...

And the best thing about Little Black Dress is, the prices, if you want something special and are prepared to spend a bit of cash then they have dresses in the higher price range, but if you want something a bit more cheap and cheerful, then they've got that too!

So, if you haven't already...I highly recommend you go check out this site, and I just need to decide which dress, ok, dresses, I'm going to buy.

long overdue outfit post...

Life lately has been chaotic to say the least, and it's all about to get a lot busier before it all calms down! But I can't complain, the reason for the busy-ness is down to the fact we are picking up the keys to our new house on Friday, yes Friday...this Friday!!  Which meant last weekend was spent running round every house item related house shop in Carlisle, starting to tick off the huge long list of things we need, but, mission half accomplished, we've bought a dining table and chairs, and bedroom furniture now, how very grown up!

Anyway, in other news, it was my birthday a month ago, and the boy managed to take a few outfit snaps for me before we headed out, and a mere four weeks later I'm getting round to posting them...I told you life was chaotic right now!

Blazer - Primark (£7 bargain!!)
Boots - Zara
Necklace - H&M

So I'm going through a bit of a period of 'I hate all my clothes' right now, does anyone else ever do that? Because any money I've spent on clothes recently has had to go on slightly more sensible office wear, I haven't bought myself any 'treat' clothes for months, and feel like I wear the same things over and over at the moment.  Which led me to pull out this dress , which I have literally had for a over five years! But hey, the boy didn't recognise it, so it did the job!

So, I'm now off to go get excited about my house, watch this space for some 'before and after' house pics coming up soon, I'm feeling inspired by Sarah!

P.S. On seeing these photos, I realise the blazer really doesn't go with the necklace, and I look pretty grumpy in one of the photos...and I really need to buy some concealer, ah well, shit happens! :)
