the challenge: week 24 - an update

post yoga workout pic

8 weeks to go, and 6 months down, where has that time gone?

8 weeks to go, 6 months down and my fitness regime has taken a turn in a very different direction.  Now, I've always been a yoga fan, I think I've mentioned it in one of these posts before, but it's something I've never really done much of before.

But, that is all about to change, I recently got a cheeky little pay-rise and decided that I'd sign up to the local yoga studio.  It's a beautiful studio with a range of yoga classes, and I'd always wanted to join, but having my gym membership and not being the cheapest, I'd never done it, now I had no excuse.  So, I've jumped in and I'm really going for it, I've tried everything from bikram to aerial, hatha to core, and tomorrow I'm giving vinyasa a go.  And I am LOVING it.

I know it's not going to help with Total Warrior, and I need to keep up all my other classes to maintain my endurance levels, but it's so refreshing to find an exercise I enjoy, and I have dreams of becoming a super strong yogi, that looks amazing in leggings and crop tops, and spend my days on yoga retreats (I basically want to be Steffy White), but for the moment I need to keep to my range of workouts... post 8th August, you know what's going to happen.

So how are things elsewhere? Well the running is going horrendously! I've well and truly lost my mojo, I've been for a couple of runs recently and I've given up between 4 and 5k, bearing in mind, I'd semi-comfortably ran 10k a few times now, I just can't understand it.  I need to get back into it, but the thoughts fills me with dread, any suggestions?

I've more or less stopped the Body Pump classes, while I was really enjoying them, the stress of rushing on my lunch break and having to be out the office for about 75 - 80 mins was too much (and the yoga studio is 2 mins away - no brainer) and I was beginning to feel paranoid that my shoulders and back were starting to get quite broad, and I didn't fancy that.

I did get a trampette for my birthday, which I am loving, but it is SO hard, my calves do not thank me for it, and that's after only 5 minutes...

And diet? What diet? That's how it feels anyway.  For the last 6 months, I've been living off approx 1200 - 1400 calories a day (maybe a little more of I was doing a good workout) 5/6 days a week, with one or two pretty epic cheat days.  Now that to me is a LOW calorie diet, and I'm not losing any weight, I'm still a stone heavier than I was this time last year (read this post if you're interested in that subject!) and I figured I'm just going to relax my diet a bit.  I'm now nutrition expert, or personal trainer (although I'd love one to help me if you're reading this) but I kind of feel like my body almost didn't have enough food in it to work off in my workouts, hence why I wasn't losing any weight, how's that for a theory to enable you to eat more cake? Anyway, I'm relaxing my diet a little, and allowing myself more treats.  If the weight creeps back on, then I'll take note,l but I just can't see how much longer I can keep living off that calorie deficit.

So that's where we're at, all fun and games hey?! Now I just need a kick up the ass to start my running again, and any useful tips on my diet would be appreciated, and if you'd like to encourage my yoga-love then leave any links below for yogi's I'd should check out...just to help with obsession.
P.S. If you've been reading my post for a while, you'll probably already know why I'm on this crazy health kick, but if not, head on over here and read this post - I'm in training and raising money for Pancreatic Cancer, if you'd like to sponsor me that would be super lovely of you.

the challenge: week 22 - the sportswear wishlist

When you work out 5 or 6 times a week, you fairly get through the washing...or maybe double it wears maybe a little more often than you should, or should admit to! It's been a while since I bought any new sportswear but it's definitely about time I did, so, I've put together a wishlist of all my current faves, let me know what you think.

Sportswear Wishlist
1. Adidas Originals Pharrell Williams 3 Stripe Leggings With Daisy Floral Print - I LOVE these leggings, in fact I love them so much they're already on their way to me from ASOS after a cheeky purchase last night when they had their 20% off everything day. I like the fact they're still the classic Adidas three stripe, but the daisies make them so much more feminine.

2. New Look Only Blue Abstract Shorts - I went to my first Bikram Yoga class last night, and they ain't lying when they say it's hot, I sweated buckets. These lightweight shorts look as though they'd be perfect to help me work the perfect downward dog, but keep my modesty concealed with the double layer affect.

3. Zanna Van Dijk Galactic Legging - I'm a big ZVD fan, and have been following her on instagram for some time now, so when I heard she was releasing a range with active in style, it's fair to say I was pretty exciting, and she didn't disappoint. I sheer and marble panels down the side add a little something something, and make a simple black pair of leggings that little bit more interesting, and they'll still match the rest of your wardrobe!

4. Nike Pro Classic Facet Gym Bra - I've had the same few sports bras since I started my fitness journey 18 months ago, and I think it's time to upgrade. This little Nike number looks like a good starting point, you can't go wrong with Nike and the black and white print will look pretty cool under my vests.

5. Lululemon High Times Pant - If you don't already know, I'm a super fan girl when it comes to Anna from ViviannaDoesMakeup and basically her blog is my bible, if she rates it, I buy it! She's been singing the praises of Lululemon for some time, and in particular their leggings and I think it's about time I thought about getting myself a pair. Also, these palm print leggings appeal to the inner yogi in me.

6. Boohoo Tabitha Marble Print Zip Through Hoodie - A marble print hoodie? That's only £14? Well what's not to like!

So that's it, 6 perfect items don't you think? What's ironic is, I actually need new vests more than anything...don't seem to have any of those on my wishlist, story of my life!

What's on your sportswear wishlist this month? Any new recommendations I should know about?

P.S. If you want to know why I'm on this crazy health kick then check out this post, and if you'd like to sponsor me (which would make me super happy) you can do here.
